Norske røtter. // Norwegian roots

Aktiv turnerende solist over hele Europa.

The Norwegian Organ Festival opens with a powerful and evocative performance by two legends in Norwegian music: Kåre Nordstoga, one of the country’s most celebrated organists, and Knut Buen, a master of the Hardanger fiddle and one of Norway’s leading folk music ambassadors since the 1970s.

Their collaboration dates back to the early 1980s, resulting in several acclaimed recordings and a Spellemann Award (Norway’s equivalent of the Grammy). Together, they bridge the worlds of classical organ music and traditional Norwegian folk, creating something truly unique and deeply rooted in cultural heritage.

Kåre Nordstoga has had a remarkable career as a concert organist, recording artist, and for nearly 40 years, as the cathedral organist at Oslo Cathedral. His lifelong passion for folk music has led to rich collaborations with traditional musicians, including long-time partner Knut Buen.

This opening concert sets the tone for a festival where tradition and innovation meet in harmony.
